Integrated Directional Signing Program

The IDSP serves as an umbrella for five major signing programs and special signing programs designed to guide motorists to essential services, attractions, tourist destinations, and other points of interest. Since July 1, 2020, Directional Signing Program LLC has administered and modernized this turnkey operation under VDOT’s oversight.

Challenges

Database was disjointed and the DOT had no line of site to data or program
Supplemental Guide Sign Program had degraded over a 10 year period under previous contract
Oversight by VDOT was hampered by no transparency, no access to database, and antiquated datasets

ArcGIS Platform

ArcGIS Online is being used to host all the datasets, maps and applications. The day-to-day management of the IDSP consists of many activities where the ArcGIS Platform can enhance routine workflows.
